Eve Daniell is taking over the slot for the Sunday, Feb. 4 Chemainus Classical Concert series show at the St. Michael’s Church.

Antoine Joubert was supposed to perform The Complete Chopin Etudes, but he’s been forced to cancel due to a hand injury.

Soprano Daniell and pianist Rykie Avenant will be presenting a program that includes Quilter, Richard Strauss, Mozart, Barber, Glière and more.

Daniell has sung in Symphony Splash in Victoria. In the U.K., where she makes her home, she has sung in Proms, and for Canada’s 150th celebration last July, she was even invited to sing for the Queen.

Avenant, a specialist in vocal accompaniment, elicits the highest admiration wherever she performs.

“If you have already purchased a ticket to hear Joubert, we hope you will find this afternoon of song just as exciting,” noted artistic director Ann Mendenhall.

However, for those who would prefer a credit or a refund, she added that won’t be a problem.

The concert starts at 2 p.m. For ticket information, visit http://www.chemainusclassicalconcerts.ca or call Eleanor Montour at 250-748-8383.

Tickets are $20 at the door, $17 in advance. The price is $5 for Under 18.
