It’s been nearly a year and people are seriously missing the regular Chemainus Classical Concerts series events in Chemainus at St. Michael’s Church.

“I’m sure we all thought and hoped this would be over sooner, but on the contrary it now looks like we will be restricted for longer than anticipated,” noted Rykie Avenant, artistic co-director of Chemainus Classical Concerts, in an email update to friends of live classical music.

“Our 2020-2021 season has suffered dramatically as a result of these restrictions,” she added. “Several of our artists live abroad, which further complicates matters.

“We are continuously monitoring the situation and re-evaluating our options. If we can do so safely, we will do our best to host more concerts in the current season.”

As the long wait continues, there are some virtual performances to enjoy online and people can check out the Chemainus Classical Concerts Facebook page for links as well.

Avenant also pointed to the Victoria Symphony’s free online concerts and the Vancouver Symphony releases new concerts each week, available for a nominal subscription fee, as options for people to get their classical music fix.
