Beatlemania is alive in well in Crofton.
The popular group Beatlemania Unplugged, with members from Cedar, Saltair and Ladysmith, performed Wednesday during the 20th anniversary of the Crofton Seawalk’s Phase 1 opening. Its repertoire of Beatles’ hits had toes tapping and hands clapping among the gathered audience.
Lead singer John Booth has been a lifelong fan of the Beatles and wife Charlene Booth adds a different sound with a female voice to all the Beatles’ classics. John Booth grew up in Chemainus and is well-known from his early days in bands.
Gary Atkinson of Ladysmith has been a longtime member of the group, Saltair’s Ryk Ryce is a new addition on bass guitar and Rob Mitchell from Cedar is the man in the Ringo role on the drums.
