Thetis Island celebrates opening of expanded and renovated fire hall

More than 70 people attend ceremony to mark special occasion

More than 70 residents and visitors gathered outside the firehall on Thetis Island Saturday to celebrate the official opening of the newly-expanded and renovated Central Hall. Celebrating with Thetis were fire chiefs and officers from the Penelakut, Ladysmith, Cowichan Bay, Sahtlam, North Oyster and Lantzville Fire Departments as well as the CVRD Fire Rescue Services Coordinator and CVRD Telecommunications Coordinator. Marge Armstrong, widow of retired Deputy Chief Harry Armstrong, and retired Fire Chief Pete Rees officially uncouple the hose to open the newly renovated and expanded Central Fire Hall on Thetis Island Saturday.
