‘Tis the season to have emotions on overdrive, feelings of nostalgia, loss and loneliness.
But this coming week there’s a special event at the Hive Collective in Chemainus to soothe your spirit, mind and body. It’s called ‘A Sound Journey Experience’ with Cora Schiller, a.k.a., Cinnamon Gypsea.
What is a Sound Journey? Schiller answers as follows:
“Imagine lying down with a soft pillow on a yoga mat and blanket, as washes of sound take you deeper into your inner world. Sometimes the sound is far, sometimes close, your intuition opens and your tense feelings are soothed by the resonating sounds around you. Nothing is required of you except to listen to the soundscape and lay comfortably letting everything ordinary go.”
A variety of instruments such as Tibetan singing bowls, crystal bowls, drum, chimes, etc. are chosen specifically for their frequency and vibration, she added, “to really nourish and support the nervous system with new patterns to settle down, encouraging your body into a well-deserved state of calm and deep relaxation.”
That will be enhanced by Schiller’s soothing voice with guided breath and visualization.
The many rippling benefits are endless. Stories of better sleep, softening anxiety, lowering blood pressure and supporting depression have been told throughout Schiller’s career. She is available to bring this experience to any home, workplace or celebratory events.
The only pre-requisite is to be able to lay on a floor. No other experience is necessary.
The sessions takes place Friday, Dec. 16 from 6:30-8 p.m. at The Hive Collective. The cost id $40 and parent/teen or family/group packages are available.
Schiller can be contacted at 250-246-7838 for further enquiries.
All that’s required to being are a yoga mat, blanket and small pillow, and to dress cozy.
