Chemainus Rotary Club members did their part for the environment at Askew Creek Park Sunday morning.

Earth Day was Friday, April 22 and the Rotarians selected a work party to remove English Ivy from the park as their project during the week.

“Rotary kind of challenged all other clubs to do an environmental service day,” added Chemainus Rotary Club president Derek Hardacker.

A group of Rotarians and their families spent about two hours cutting down the ivy. Hardacker said about 20 bags were filled with ivy and removed from the site.

Everyone took a break afterwards to enjoy some hot dogs for lunch back at the Rotary Club bunker on Chemainus Road.
