Fuller Lake Skating Club members are looking forward to their performances of Reel Ice Saturday, March 25.
There are two shows at 1 and 5 p.m. at Fuller Lake Arena. Tickets are $10 for adults and $5 for children 2-12 years of age and available by contacting Luisa Shillingford via email at cleve@telus.net or at the door.
Ice shows are normally held by the club every two years, but the schedule obviously went haywire since the pandemic.
“We did a concert last year, but it wasn’t really an ice show,” said Shillingford.

The ice show will bring back all of the glitz and glamour, including lights, cameras and action as well as elaborate costumes for the theme.
All sorts of movies will be featured in the performance from comedy and romance to adventure, animation and more, said Shillingford.
“Reel Ice is a dedication to the movie genres of the past and present,” noted Fuller Lake Skating Club coach Dominic Turgeon. “It goes back to 1939 with Dorothy and The Wizard of Oz with her cast of characters. We have superheroes, love stories and action characters. The number giving tribute to horror was a bit of a challenge for me personally. Both the music and the props could have used more than three weeks rehearsal. We sure had fun with it, though.”
It’s only been a little more than three weeks now since the club started working on the ice show after the final week of practices wound down.
The skaters range in age from 2-21, plus adult skater Cassandra Taylor. There are all levels of skaters: Precan, Canskate, Powerskating, Pre-Junior, Junior, Intermediate and Senior skaters.
A cast of more than 50 skaters will be featured in each of the two shows.
“Putting on an ice show is a huge undertaking,” conceded Turgeon. “Thanks to the many parents that have stepped up to make this happen.”
Two other club coaches, Kailee Bowman and Lorraine Francisty, assisted Turgeon in the choreography of the numbers.
This will be a special ice show for long-time club skaters Lucy Street and Isabel Anderson, who are both graduating from high school this year.
