Crofton’s outdoor playing courts are receiving a makeover.

Don Stewart, deputy director of parks, forestry and recreation for the Municipality of North Cowichan, noted the courts are being reconfigured.

On the old outdoor skateboard surface, a single tennis/pickleball combination court is being constructed.

On the old tennis court surface, there will be a single court solely for tennis and two courts solely for pickleball. The existing basketball net will be retained.

Stewart indicated the paving is slated to occur the week of August 27. Once paving is complete, work will begin to place the posts for the nets and do the line painting to have it open for play.

The goal is to have the courts open for the weekend of Sept. 7.

“This town is really improving,” said community advocate Dan Robin of the work on the courts. “This town is getting some amazing things happening.”
