Sawmills are synonymous with the history of Chemainus, as everyone knows.

Fortunately, some of that remarkable history has been documented over time.

Mill Faces from the Dobson collection, circa 1940-1950s, provides a yearbook type of look at the employees at the Chemainus sawmill and the work practices that existed at the time.

Photos weren’t as abundantly taken as they are today so it makes this collection all the more valuable in capturing the essence of the community during a different era.
