It’s been a tough year for special occasions.

But there are love stories that endure the test of time and overcome any obstacles COVID-19 can throw at us.

One such landmark anniversary this summer came on July 9 when Roy and Marion Laird marked their 65th wedding anniversary, celebrating together at the Chemainus Health Care Centre.

They’re still as much in love as the day they met, with Roy at 92 years of age and Marion about to turn 90 in October.

Daughter Sharon, who lives in Cobble Hill, made all the arrangements for the celebrity couple with the staff so they could still enjoy some fitting happiness despite the pandemic.

Their favorite food is fish and chips.

The Lairds also have a son Mike in Red Deer and daughter Janice in Nanaimo.

During a time that’s been hard on everyone with our focus being primarily in a totally different direction, it’s important these memorable moments are still highlighted to keep our spirits up.
