Many enjoy return of Cowichan Exhibition

The Cowichan Exhibition made a triumphant return last weekend after a one-year hiatus.

Last year’s virtual event was hailed as the Un-Fair, a clever play on words for having to cancel in-person visits to the Exhibition site due to the pandemic.

It was looking dicey for a while again this year, but the fair managed to proceed as a slightly scaled-down event.

The weather also had other ideas, cancelling the midway rides on the opening Friday night due to high winds. But the grounds were busy and buzzing again Saturday and Sunday, although a late Saturday afternoon downpour that only lasted a short time put a brief damper on things.

With the Exhibition site just a short drive south of Chemainus, many took advantage of the opportunity to attend under COVID protocols.
