The streets of Crofton were the place to meet for Easter treats Saturday.
The Warmland Church’s Eggstravaganza Crofton drew an enormous response of hoppy and happy participants in an event that included an Easter clue hunt, hot dogs and goodies, the Easter bunny, crafts, Donald Dunphy’s magical touches and more.
“We had a lot of really good positive feedback,” said Tammy Carruthers. “People were grateful and thankful.”
Online registrations hit a whopping 338, including 187 children and 151 parents and grandparents. Even more showed up who weren’t pre-registered but they were accommodated.
“It was a great family event for sure,” noted Carruthers.
It was a tremendous combination of Warmland’s 22 volunteers, community volunteers and sponsors/supporters at the eight stops for the clue hunt.
Jocelyn Anderson did all the cutout punch cards for the hunt.
The eight stops participants were required to find to receive treats included: the Crofton Elementary School rainbow crosswalk (Island Savings Credit Union), the Crofton Fire Hall, the Crofton Community Centre, Crofton Shop & Wash, the pickleball courts (Camp Qwanoes), Crofton Old School Museum, Crofton Pharmacy (administered by community volunteers Barb and Syke Olender) and the totem pole at the Crofton Seawalk, with Warmland volunteers Lynne Holdal and Joanne Van Boven there to give out the treats.
Camp Qwanoes, Crofton Community Centre, Crofton Firefighters Association, Crofton Old School Museum, Island Savings and Crofton Shop & Wash were community sponsors/supporters.
The Warmland tent was beautifully set up for crafts and a stage for Dunphy to perform his magic and balloon making.
