The Cowichan Valley Naturalists Society is holding its annual general meeting on Tuesday, May 21 at 7 p.m.
It will be followed a presentation by Dr. Nancy Turner titled “Roots, Greens, Berries and more…Food Plants of Quw’utsun and other Vancouver Island First Peoples”.
The AGM takes place at the Fish Health Building, 1080 Wharncliffe Rd. in Duncan. The presentation will take place at 7:30 p.m. via Zoom. Email cvns@naturecowichan.net for the link.

The Cairnsmore/Hospice House Volunteer Gardeners are holding an open garden tour from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. for the public to enjoy the gardens at their peak on Saturday, May 25.
There will also be a wide variety of plants remaining from the group’s recent plant sale that will be available for purchase, so it’s a second chance to pick up a great deal.
Entry to the gardens is by donation.

A group has organized a Cowichan Valley Climate Solutions Expo for Saturday, May 25 at the HUB at Cowichan Station.
Organizers said there is a varied list of exhibitors including local environmental groups, solar and EV companies and agencies, as well as BC Hydro and Firesmart BC.
The event is free.
“Come and explore the inspiring work being done locally to protect our planet,” said a press release for the event.
