Chemainus will turn back the clock with a classic automotive display Sunday, June 10.
The Chemainus Business Improvement Association and community partners are hosting a must-see car show with a special Midtown display.
Masterminded by Gunnell Borge at Sandpiper Gardens and Glass, it has truly taken a foothold in the community and is expected to be bustling with hot rods, trucks and everything in between.
“Groups have been very eager to support a new car show, and are incredibly happy to be coming to Chemainus to do so,” noted Krystal Adams, executive director for the Chemainus BIA.
Car’s won’t be the only thing on the menu.
Maple Lane Café will be barbecuing burgers and cutting fresh fries, plus 1950s favourites like malted milk shakes. Music will fill the street courtesy of Maple Lane Guitars.
All of this comes on the heels of welcoming Chemainus Theatre’s production of Grease into the town, and brings the theme into the business community. Grease is celebrating its 40th anniversary, ensuring an important celebration year for the production.
“With such an acclaimed production in town, it is absolutely wonderful to see extensions such as these happening in such a big way on opening weekend,” Adams remarked.
The event at Maple Lane is free. It runs from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. and people are urged to browse the many shops and rock to the bopping’ music with friends and family.
