The second half of Fuller Lake Skating Club’s performance of Reel Ice featured a Moulin Rouge segment, Chicago, comic book superheroes, Thelma & Louise, Ease On Down The Road, the Wizard Of Oz munchkins, Goodbye Yellow Brick Road, the Karate Kid and a horror film number before the grand finale.

All levels of skaters were incorporated into the production. The tiniest of kids in the Canskate groups were thrilled to be part of it.

“I had such a great time with the skaters getting ready for this show,” noted Dominic Turgeon, the Fuller Lake Skating Club’s head coach and ice show director. “Firmly imprinted in my brain is the vision of two little girls on the end of what we call a pinwheel, holding on for dear life and grinning from ear to ear.”

He conceded so much work goes into a show of this nature in a very short period of time, primarily three weeks in this case.

“The execution of it all was excellent,” Turgeon observed. He credited Jenn Torres Hernandez, who monitored and covered all the bases, Maureen Ridgway doing costumes and Alejandra Wilson with decorations, to name a few.

“The show did have a lot of variety which is one of the great things about using such a broad theme,” Turgeon added. “I think some of the interpretations of how the movie was represented was clever. Both the senior girls smaller group numbers Moulin Rouge/Isabel Anderson and Wizard Of Oz/Lucy Street with the juniors were fun and very much a collaborated effort with the skaters and myself.”
