Housing affordability is a hot topic around Chemainus so that will be the focus of the Chemainus Residents Association’s annual general meeting next Tuesday, May 8.

A panel will offer local, regional and provincial perspectives on the issue.

The panel will include: Rob Douglas, North Cowichan Councillor and chair of the Chemainus Advisory Committee; Terri Mattin, executive director of Cowichan Housing Association; and Kyla Masur, the constituency assistant for Nanaimo-North Cowichan MLA Doug Routley.

Panelists and the audience will attempt to identify actions that could be taken by Chemainus residents to promote affordable housing development.

The CRA’s annual reports and election of the board for the coming year are also on the agenda.

Members and prospective members are welcome to attend. The meeting takes place from 6:30 to 8 p.m. at St. Michael’s Church in Chemainus, 2858 Mill St.
