Chemainus residents who attended the Remembrance Day ceremonies at the cenotaph kept their distance and wore masks to keep the annual tradition of honouring our war veterans going.
People were told the stay at home due to COVID-19 and mark the occasion at 11 o’clock with private commemorations, but many also wanted to be there for the small annual ceremony to pay their respects. They stayed behind barricades, but were still close enough to view the proceedings, with inside access limited to 50 people.
Cadets were on hand for the service as well as the Cowichan Pipes and Drums and representatives from the Royal Canadian Legion Chemainus Branch 191.
The colour party consisted of Colin Murphy, Don Gatward and Dave Munro, with Wes Everitt as sergeant at arms.
