Don Goodman of the Willow Street Cafe is getting into the spirit of reconciliation with the purchase of a legendary product.

Goodman recently bought a one-of-a-kind Cowichan sweater from Joanne Peter of Penelakut Island to support First Nations trades.

“I’ve always wanted one,” said Goodman. “This is fantastic. I’m sure other people would also love one in a time of reconciliation.

“I am proud to own our native history.”

Peter’s skills are matched by her husband Delbert, who’s a successful carver. They are both set up regularly when the Chemainus Wednesday Markets are held, but it’s now closed for the season.
