Trading Spaces Chemainus edition is taking place downtown.

Bound To Be Different is on the move and will soon be opening at its new location at 9739 Willow St. and Doc The Barber, the former occupant of that space, is now a few doors down at 2-9745 Willow St. between Remax Ocean Pointe Realty and exp Realty as of Tuesday, July 6.

Doc The Barber Jennifer Morrell and Dragon Alley Barber James McKay are open Tuesday through Thursday from 9 a.m.-5 p.m., Friday from 9 a.m.-4 p.m. and Saturdays from 10 a.m.-4 p.m. by appointment by calling 250-324-0362.

Amy Hughes of Bound To Be Different will have her current boutique shop at 9736 Chemainus Rd. open until 5 p.m. on Saturday, July 17. It will then close in preparation for the move to the former Doc The Barber site beside the Christmas Shop and across from the Chemainus Health Food Store.

After renovations are complete, Hughes has plans for a grand opening of her new space on Thursday, July 22 between 10 a.m. and 5 p.m.

Work to this point has included a fresh coat of paint, a new fitting room and storage room and the beginning of a new counter. With a little progress being made each day, it all adds up to a very happy Hughes.

She said the new space is “a little bit bigger, no steps, easier access for everybody.

“It just makes sense to have a building with better access.”

Hughes has loved the space she’s occupied on Chemainus Road for a little more than five years, but it was time to make the move with some of her regular clientele in mind.
