Rainforest Arts has hired a gallery manager, as Stephanie Allesia comes on board with experience as Front of House Coordinator with the Chemainus Theatre Festival.

Her work with volunteers and ‘taking care of last minute issues’ will be welcomed at RFA, and by the Chemainus Valley Cultural Arts Society, where she will also take on some administrative tasks.

“I loved working in the theatre and being involved in the arts community,” she said.

Actually, the arts can be traced back to her childhood years in ‘small town Alberta.’

”I grew up surrounded by art,” she said. “My grandmother is an artist, she does silk painting, my mother is an artist, my sister is a makeup artist, and my husband (Kyle Allesia, drummer with The Doctors of Rock and Roll) is a musician, so it’s great to be surrounded by that kind of energy.

Allesia moved to Chemainus from Richmond three years ago with Kyle and their two children.

“I love living in Chemainus.” she said. “Once I had children, I really missed the small town atmosphere, and my husband and I both love it. It’s got such a great energy.”
