People from all walks of life are stepping up to help others during the COVID-19 crisis.
Chemainus’ Roy Summerhayes is doing his part through the www.seniors101.ca, www.vancouverislandnow.ca and www.islandwomanmagazine.ca websites.
“The COVID-19 restrictions now in place are having a particularly devastating effect on small Island farmers, artisans and businesses,” Summerhayes noted. “These Islanders play a huge role in making our communities what they are.
“To assist them now and to help them to promote themselves for the future when this current challenge ends, because it will end, we would like to offer the following at no cost.”
These include: a listing for farmers in the Island Farmers & Farm Markets section at https://seniors101.ca/markets; a listing for artisans and small businesses on Vancouver Island Now at https://vancouverislandnow.ca in whichever community is considered home base; and for those with on-line sales capabilities, a listing in the On-line Sales section.
In order to activate this, Summerhayes asked that people send their name, what they sell, location and contact information, including web page if applicable, to firstname.lastname@example.org.
“Let’s use this unfortunate hiatus to ensure we not only weather the storm, but we emerge stronger and more invigorated to serve,” he indicated.
