The Chemainus Moonlight Madness shopping event is back in the spotlight as an annual event Friday, Nov. 25 from 4-8 p.m.
Boutiques, galleries, storefronts, restaurants and a variety of other shops will open the doors to welcome the public for this special one-day event. Merchants will offer deep discounts in stores along with specials, draws and giveaways.
Stores will be hosting draws, prize giveaways and some will even have goodies. There’s something for all age categories with vast interests.
“This event continues to be such a favourite for shoppers, which doesn’t surprise me, I like huge savings too,” says Krystal Adams, executive director for the Chemainus Business Improvement Association. “But more than anything it’s really about the shared experience of doing something for the holidays that’s social.”
The event falls on the heels of the highly-successful Cowichan Craft Beer and Food Festival in August that drew local and regional acclaim.
“We can’t wait to have the levity come back into the town again for the holiday season,” added Adams. “This year Santa will be staying at home as Mrs. Claus is not very excited about him being out so often so close to Christmas, but he will make an appearance at the other local events like Little Town Christmas.”
Moonlight Madness is filled with shopping, eating and winning.
“We are also doing a big prize basket for people who have purchased $100 or more in any one store between 4 and 8 p.m.,” noted Adams. “This basket is amazing and is filled with a little of everything.”
The Holiday Passport program is running until Dec. 21, a favourite of the town with more than 35 participants. The idea is to make a purchase of $10 or more at any participating retailer and shoppers will earn a stamp. Once five stamps are collected from five different businesses, shoppers can enter to win a $250 gift card that can be used at any of the participating businesses.
“People look forward to this event, they wait for it,” says Adams. “And we couldn’t be more pleased with the amount of love and support local businesses get from shoppers who want to save on gas and take advantage of the wonderful local small town shopping experience this holiday season.”
The event is an opportunity not to be missed to get some much-needed holiday shopping done, spread some support to local businesses and even catch up with a friend or two from a reasonable distance.
