The biggest hockey tournament of the year is rapidly approaching at Fuller Lake Arena.

The Cowichan Valley Minor Hockey Association’s Memorial Midget C Tournament takes place March 15-17, with games at Fuller Lake and the Cowichan Arena in Duncan.

The tournament started out as the Ryan Clark Memorial before becoming the Memorial Midget C to encompass more families affected by similar tragedies of losing loved ones far too early who all had the common bond of hockey.

Kathy Irving, executive administrator of the CVMHA and tournament organizer, noted it’s the 10th anniversary of the two combined events.

There are 12 teams taking part, with six in each of two pools.

Pool A consists of the Lake Cowichan Lakers, Cowichan Valley C2, Victoria, Cowichan Valley C3, Triport and Mission.

Teams in Pool B include: Saanich, Cowichan Valley C1, Port Alberni, Nanaimo, Campbell River and Powell River.

Game times at Fuller Lake Friday, March 15 and Saturday, March 16 are at 10 a.m., 11:30, 1 p.m., 2:30, 4, 5:30, 7 and 8:30.

The schedule for Sunday, March 17 includes games at 8:30 a.m., 10, 11:30, 3 p.m. and the final at 6:30. Alumni games for families are at 1 and 4:40 p.m.
