Check the tax increases for both North Cowichan and the Cowichan Valley Regional District over past election cycles. Guess what, it’s an election year.
‘Reasonable’ tax increases in the Valley are election cyclical. Time to boot these “tax and spend” freeloaders out.
Also, compare our increases over the last 10 years. Here again, those of other similar municipalities and regional districts, guess what, we’re the leader - or is it loser?
Use Campbell River in comparison to North Cowichan as they adjusted the industrial rate down a few years ago, as did North Cowichan. But before and after that year, Campbell River’s increases were reasonable.
Not so in the Valley.
