OBITURARY

KINNEY, Lynda Dianne - After a very long, hard-fought battle with cancer, Lynda passed away on June 9, 2010, at the home she loved. Predeceased by her father, Harry Lucken, she will be sadly missed by her husband, Howard; mother, Evelyn Perine, and step-father, Bob Perine; brother, Sandy Lucken (Audray); son Michael Frehlick (Lindsay); step-daughter, Sheri Kinney; grandchildren, Ethan Frehlick and Mei-Li Kinney; niece, Aja; and close friends Bill and Kim Macinnes. Born in Vancouver Lynda spent her early years on the Sunshine Coast at Robert's Creek before moving to Vancouver. As a young woman, she traveled around Europe before moving to New Zealand for a year. When she returned to Canada, she eventually settled in Chemainus, and ran the bowling centre there. Lynda loved everthing about Chemainus, and she worked tirelessly with various groups to do whatever she could to make the town an even better place. Later she became involved with Duncan Lanes where she most enjoyed arranging year-end banquets and organizing bus trips for the seniors. Lynda also started up her own clothing store in Chemainus after Heritage Lanes closed. The family would like to thank the homecare nurses and support workers for their help and especially doctors Lisa and Jean-Marie Wilson for their kind and thoughtful care. There will be no service by request. In lieu of flowers, a donation to the Canadian Cancer Society would be appreciated.

COOKING

GARNET AND SHIRLEY wrote a cookbook in 1979 with most of their favourite recipes. For example: fresh strawberry pie; banana cream with whole bananas; mile high lemon meringue, Boston crème, etc. Some of the soups include his famous clam chowder, mulligatawny and many of his cream soups. His very delicious stir fry sauce is also included. Unfortunately we did not include our quiche or meat pies, but we will be very happy to pass them on. Garnet and Shirley still make meat pies and bread. For more information, phone 250748-4778. Our book is for sale at Travel Too Destinations in Chemainus. 250-246-2828.

HAPPY FATHER'S DAY

DAD When I was young, I used to always joke, "It's the Right Way or Ron's Way". Well, Dad, as I have gotten older I now know your way was the right way. Thanks for teaching me your ways, you "sumbitch"!
Love Shell.
