An investigation is being conducted into vandalism at several group mailbox sites in the Chemainus area.

The incident was reported to Canada Post Security & Investigations and to the RCMP, according to Darcia Kmet of Canada Post Media Relations. No other details could be offered with the investigation underway.

Kmet added temporary measures have been put in place to maintain mail service and the patience of customers is appreciated.

“Customers were informed that they will receive temporary delivery at the Chemainus Post Office,” Kmet indicated. “I can confirm that normal delivery has resumed for some customers, and we are working to resume delivery to the remaining customers as fast as we can.”

Kmet encouraged anyone who witnesses suspicious activities to immediately report them to the authorities and Canada Post at 1-800-267-1177.
